1. All patients will receive their pin number sms immediately and will no longer be directed to www.go.medpoint.uk to checkout.
2. They can proceed to the machine, enter the pin number.
3. If the order was created as “exempt” on the MedPoint portal, the machine will output the bag immediately as it has always done.
4. If the order was created with a charge amount, the patient will be presented with “exemption 1” screen below.
5. If they pay for prescriptions, they need to press X and a popup message will tell them to hold their card to the reader for contactless payment (“reader” image attached). As soon as payment is approved the machine will output the order in the usual way.
7. In extremely rare circumstances, a patient may need to press the “0” button to see more options on the “exemption 2” screen attached. In practice these exemptions will almost never be needed because:
a. Age exempt Rxs orders should be created as exempt, so these patients won’t be asked to declare anything.
b. After > 1 million items collected, we have never seen anyone use War Pension exemption to-date
c.
“Partner with pension credit” exemption is also
extremely rarely used and is also covered by RTEC anyway. So these orders are
generally created as exempt on the portal in the first place and won’t be asked
to declare anything at the machine. More info here: https://psnc.org.uk/our-news/rtec-and-token-submission/
8. Once the patient selects an exemption reason the machine outputs the order as usual.
9. There is no change to your workflow or process needed from a pharmacy staff point of view. The exemption or payment status will continue to appear in the daily “Collections report” https://portal.medpoint.uk/reports/collections
